Samarth's Leardership

In March 2022, I was the leader of a food stall a group that served and prepared meals. I supported a democratic leadership style that encouraged teamwork, transparency, and collaborative decision-making. The scenario that instantly comes to mind is when our staff was confronted with an unexpected rise in client interest at a local festival. To ensure client happiness and preserve the excellence of our service, we needed to operate effectively and harmoniously.

As a democratic leader, I respected each group individual's opinion and thoughts. I promoted active involvement in decisions by enabling everybody to express their knowledge and recommendations; this method not only educated colleagues but also supported an atmosphere of duty and ownership among team participants (Sarna & Tyagi, 2023). Because I had previous experience working in the hotel sector, I advised my coworkers on how to attract guests and how to speed up the serving process by employing various strategies. Below here I have attached a video and towards the end of the video I am asking my teammate to calm down don't rush and just pass me the cutlery.

My sentiments regarding the managerial job were a combination of enthusiasm and obligation. I welcomed the chance to coach and inspire the team achieve our goals of raising money for the food stall and gaining higher grades, as it was also our test. But I didn't feel the weight of my managerial role since I maintained my calm and relied on my colleagues.

Overall, the experience was a success. Our team was able to handle the rise in consumer demand effectively by cultivating an open and inclusive atmosphere. We provided excellent service, exceeded client expectations, and earned favourable comments. The positive effects of the project were team camaraderie and a sense of achievement. That was my team for the evening.

This leadership experience taught me some crucial insights about myself. For starters, I learned that I actually like leading and directing others since it coincides with my inherent desire for cooperation and empowerment of others. However, I realised that I needed to improve key leadership abilities. Effective delegating, aggressive communication, and dispute resolution are all areas where I can improve.

Here I was understanding the guest queries and at the same time I was briefing my teammate about the next plan.

In conclusion, I was very happy with my teams performance at the food stall as we were able to achieve what we all desired. I got to know how it feels when you lead something and it works. Through this experience I learned how to be an effective democratic leader and also how to stay calm and be positive and also I understood that it is really important to motivate your team members also by giving them chance to speak and by maintaining a joyful atmosphere.

Regarding the questionnaire results, they align with my ideas of being a democratic leader and I agree to the results. The questionnaire emphasized the importance of participatory decision-making, effective communication, and valuing diverse perspectives. These concepts strongly resonated with my leadership style and reaffirmed my preference for a democratic approach. I got 25 points in that questionnaire and it means that I am highly a democratic leader.
